Indicator and Determinants of High Blood Pressure Essay This paper implements the indicators and determinants of high blood pressure in men. Many studies have measure the effect of Hypertension among men of different ethnical and socio-economic backgrounds. Socioeconomic is one major determinant which influences high blood pressure in men. High blood pressure is a major illness in the human population, especially among men. High blood is normally called a ââ¬Å"silent killerâ⬠due to the fact that there little to no symptoms. Fifty to fifty-eight million people suffer from hypertension with the increasing population being African Americans (John, n. . ). Steven was a 55 year old African American male that came into the hospital with complaints of a severe headache. Patients had no prior history of hypertension but blood pressure was taken with the result of 180/101. Patient states that he has a family history of cardiovascular diseases. Mother and Father suffered from hypertension as a result of obesity. Steven has worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years and is under a lot of stress due to work. He is a chronic smoker and drink on occasions. The first medical professional that saw Steven was the ER doctor who cared for the patient and in returned referred Steven for follow up care with his PCP (Primary Care Physician). Before Steven saw his PCP the ER (Emergency Room) Doctor prescribes him Amlodipine 10mg 2 xs daily. The team that delivered care for Stevenââ¬â¢s hypertension was as follow: * Dr. Ogalvie- PCP (Primary Care Physician) -Which his role is to, determines the best care for Steven and his hypertension. Provide a manage care plan and to make use of specialists and make referral that co- inside with Steven treatments. Nancy Bracey-Nurse Practitioner- The role of the Nurse Practitioner is to work as support to the Doctor when he is unable to make patients appointment or if he is in an emergency surgery. The Nurse Practitioner sometime plays a vital role in Steven treatments. She is able to help in Steven treatment, which includes ordering tests, conducting physicals, and ordering medicines. * Beth Anderson- RN- Registered nurses treat and educate patients in a clinical setting, keeping records of medical histories and performing diagnostics. Most RN work with patients and their families to teach them how to manage cardiovascular disease, educate them on dietary and other measures of minimizing heart risk and help patients with postoperative rehabilitation. * Lisa Coleman ââ¬â Dietitian- The primary role of a Dietitian is to promote healthy and holistic healthcare. Steven dietitian educating him on good healthy eating habits. She also explained to him that exercising most important in keeping his blood pressure down. She also put him on a 1200 calorie diet to follow as part of his managed care plan. Data has shown and been a proven fact that hypertension is very prevalent in men, especially African American men. Many indicators can relate to hypertension such as socioeconomic statuses like where one live, employed or unemployed or a family base support system can all be factors. In Steven case some of the indicator were glucose, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, blood pressure, and obesity (SABPA, (2012). All of these symptoms can be a target for organ damage. Steven also deals with anthropometric indicators which according to Rahimi, (2012) ââ¬Å"The partial correlation coefficient was used to quantify the association between all anthropometric indicators with hypertension. Linear regression analysis was used to assess the influence of all anthropometric indicators on the variance of systolic and diastolic blood pressureâ⬠. Rahimi, (2012) states ââ¬Å"Adult male population of Fars province had a high prevalence of hypertension, overweight and obesity which can be handled through healthy diet and physical exercisesâ⬠. Steven dietitian stresses the important of holistic healthcare such as healthy eating habits and exercising on a regular basis. Other indicator was the problems of sexual dysfunction that Steven suffered in his marriage. Steven stated that he was unable to perform with his wife due to the high blood pressure medicine that he was taken. Rahimi, (2012) state ââ¬Å"Thus sex, education, and for the most part, race were not independently associated with a failure to be aware or to enter treatmentââ¬â¢. Rahimi, (2012) says ââ¬Å"Sex and the number of antihypertensive drug days were independently associated with blood pressure controlâ⬠. According to Steven physician Steven was also put on an enhancement drug to help with sexual dysfunction. According to Rahimi, (2012) ââ¬Å"Vigorous public efforts led by the National High Blood Pressure Education Program and embraced by physiciansââ¬â¢ groups and the pharmaceutical industry has steadily improved blood pressure outcomes in the past 20 yearsâ⬠. Rahimi, (2012) ââ¬Å"To this point, however, overall increases in control have largely been driven by increases in awareness and entry into treatment among people with hypertensionâ⬠. Rahimi, (2012) ââ¬Å"Despite great technical advances, specifically the development of a wide range of new antihypertensive drugs and drug classes the process of care available in the community has not changed to any great extent and treatment itself remains highly inefficientâ⬠. Rahimi, (2012) ââ¬Å"As an asymptomatic, chronic illness, hypertension does not pose a problem of diagnosis or cure, but rather the challenge of daily vigilance and ongoing commitment to treatmentâ⬠. Rahimi, (2012) ââ¬Å"For most people such as Steven with high blood pressure periodical visits to the physicians office simply do not produce the desired outcomeâ⬠. As a result of data Steven were treated and educated on manage control through medication, diet and exercise. The disparities of socioeconomic are due to his poor health outcome. The key to controlled hypertension is patient follow-up, a managed care plan and patient education. In Steven treatment plan the impact of the team base approach is to effectively promote a managed care plan that is efficient in regulating Steven hypertension. The main key is to educate Steven on a post treatment plan and follow-ups care. One analysis of Steven resource and saving would be that Steven partake in his company wellness program which in returned will save and give him an incentive on his current insurance plan. Lastly the advantage of a team base approach in Steven case would be that each individual on Steven medical team would strategically come up with alternative plans of action and a plan of care that will effectively help in the treatment of Steven hypertension. Each medical professional on Steven team will play an active role in the quality of care for Steven. Again the key component is to stabilize Steven high blood pressure through healthy eating habits and exercise. The scope of team base approach is logically come up with a solution in helping Steven sustain life through longevity of the hypertensive care plan that is put in place

Jazz paper -- essays research papers
à à à à à Born in New York City, Artie Shaw would become one of the top bandleaders in the swing era. He began his musical career as a highly sought-after alto saxophone player in the New York area, and was able to benefit from the growth of radio and studio recordings. As he perfected his technical ability with various dance bands, he was still relatively unknown in the early 30ââ¬â¢s when he began to focus exclusively on the Clarinet while Swing music began to grow in popularity. à à à à à While we may carefully analyze the two pieces to satisfy our curiosity regarding musical evolution in Jazz, we should also not lose sight of the fact that these are two very enjoyable styles of music. From the lively swing orchestras inspiring large audiences to dance, to the softer Bossa Nova sound which is pleasing to hear in a relaxed setting, both have contributed to the growth of musical creativity in Jazz from the 1930ââ¬â¢s through today. Shaw first broke through with an unusual string quartet in New Yorkââ¬â¢s Imperial Theater. By early 1937, Shaw had formed a conventional swing band which would eventually record ââ¬Å"Begin the Beguineâ⬠. Tormented by the pressures that came with unwanted fame, Artie Shaw disbanded his band at the height of his fame, but was able to mount a comeback with a new band the following year to record many more hit songs. Artie Shaw would go on to serve honorably in the US Navy during World War 2, but after returning in the mid-40ââ¬â¢s it became clear that the times had changed, and it was no longer economically viable to support a big swing band. He continued to play sporadically and attempt to lead new bands until discouragement led him to announce his retirement in the mid-1950ââ¬â¢s, after which he would never even play the clarinet again. Antonio Carlos Jobim, also known by his lifelong nickname of ââ¬Å"Tomâ⬠, grew up in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. During his late teens he began to pursue an education as an Architect, but by the time he turned 20, he could not resist a powerful attraction to music so he started to play the piano in nightclubs and worked in music studios. He recorded his first record in 1954 and found fame 2 years later when he provided the score for the play ââ¬Å"Orfeo do Carnavalâ⬠. In 1958, along with the work of Brazilian Singer Joao Gilberto, Antonio Jobim launched the phenomenon known as Bossa Nova. In... ...finado on the other hand seems to be less restrictive, allowing the guitar to fade out right as the saxophone begins his contribution to the piece. Underneath it all, the rhythm sectionââ¬â¢s contribution as they keep time seems to reinforce this changing style of increasing creativity with the steady flat traditional sound of swing to the very creative rhythms in Bossa Nova. à à à à à Throughout the history of musical evolution, there are few styles which show more variation than Jazz. As such, it is sometimes enlightening to illustrate this variation by examining and contrasting some of the very unique styles of jazz, as well as the people behind the music. Within these pages, we will examine the Swing era represented by the performance of ââ¬Å"Begin the Beguineâ⬠from Artie Shawââ¬â¢s Orchestra with the Bossa Nova sound of ââ¬Å"Desafinadoâ⬠composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim. During this investigation we will see how two very different people from very different eras and styles both enjoyed commercial success under the big tent of Jazz music, as the highly organized sound of the big band era slowly gave way to newer styles that encouraged freedom in creativity by the soloists.

Beliefs and teachings of Christianity and Islam Essay
Introduction In this essay I will be exploring the beliefs and teachings about Jesus and Christianity. Also investigating Islam and Tawhid, this is the oneness of Allah and Judgement day. Then how these beliefs and teachings have reflected in believerââ¬â¢s attitudes towards life after death. Then finally I will put across my opinion and what others opinion to this may be on the following statement. â⬠People who have a religious faith lead better lives than people who have no faith, because they see life differently ââ¬Å" A) Explain the beliefs and teachings of Christianity and Islam. In Christianity: Jesus In Islam: Tawhid and Akirah Tawhid is the oneness of Allah. The one and only universal God of all humanity. The Tawhid reinforces Islam as a monotheistic faith. Allah cannot be described in certain terms, the Quran warns Muslims that they shouldnââ¬â¢t do this as there is only one God in Islam, â⬠I am Allah there is no God but meâ⬠If a Muslim is not to believe this then they are not a true Muslim. This is called Anthropomorphism. Allah is far beyond human understanding. He is not abstract and Allah created everything. To suggest you own something is breaking Tawhid. Or to think that you are better than anyone or anything also breaks Tawhid and breaks the teaching from the Quran â⬠We are all equal like the tooth of a combâ⬠Akirah is Judgement by Allah, â⬠He will gather you again on the day of judgement â⬠(Quran) Judgement day happens when the world comes to an end and Allah judges every Muslim. When Muslim dies they go into a state of waiting this is called Barzakh. Life is a test, preparation for the afterlife, this is more important as it is for eternity. Paradise and hell is where Allah sends a Muslim after being judged. Throughout a Muslims life two angels, A good one and a bad one watches them. They record all actions that happen in every day life and these are read out at judgement day. A Muslim can go straight to heaven if they die in a Holy war, Fight in the name of Allah or if they were to die on the hajj. Jesus was the founder of Christianity, the Son of God and prophet messenger from God many people in his times referred to him as the Messiah, the anointed one, chosen to be king. He is part of the trinity, the human form of God. Jesus spread the message of God and Christianity. He taught people his knowledge and teachings of the religion. He showed how to forgive. Mary Magdalene, a prostitute fell to Jesusââ¬â¢ feet, He said whilst he was on the cross. â⬠Father forgive them for they no not what they do.â⬠He also taught his people not to judge others. â⬠Do not judge and you will not be judged ââ¬Å" Christians have a golden rule this should be used in everything that they do. â⬠Love your Neighbour as Yourself ââ¬Å" B) How these teachings and beliefs reflected in believers attitudes towards life after death. Christians believe in forgive and reform. Christians can correct their sins. Jesus showed the way to heaven, by following his teachings. Jesus showed life after death when he resurrected from the death. Jesus taught Christians for God to give you life after death, you have to prove your faith by actions and putting the teachings of Jesus into a Christians daily life. So Christians did this. Then they would be rewarded with heaven. Christians do not believe in the death penalty as they believe in forgiveness and reform to become a better person. When a Christian dies they are also judged but in a different way. If they have been good and are truly sorry for their sins they can go to heaven. If they commit a sin and are not truly sorry they will go to Hell. You cannot separate religion and politics in Islam, Muslim beliefs affect a Muslims life as Islam is complete way of life. Life is just preparation for the afterlife, Heaven or hell. Muslims are all expected to be equal. For example4, the rich must donate money to the poorer Ummah. You cannot separate life and religion. The main ways a Muslim submits to Allah is by following his teachings in the Quran and the 5 pillars. Akirah is a main influence of believers of Islam. As this is on a Muslims actions and everything they do as preparation for paradise does count on judgement day. Muslims take life after death very seriously. They follow strictly to Allahââ¬â¢s instructions found in the Quran. To give them a place in paradise. Remember life is only a test. If they pass a reward of Paradise (heaven). C) â⬠People who have a religious faith lead better lives than people who have no faith, because they see life differently ââ¬Å" How far do you agree? Give reasons for your answer, showing that you thought about more than one point of view. Refer to religious teachings I agree and disagree with this statement. I agree that people who have no faith see life differently to than those who have. But I disagree that people who have a religious faith lead better lives. I could say this statement isnââ¬â¢t true as a quote from the bible says, â⬠We are all one In the lord Jesus Christ.â⬠if we are all one why does that statement state that people that have a religious faith have a better life than those that donââ¬â¢t. Although I disagree with â⬠People who have a religious faith lead better lives than people who have no Faith. ââ¬Å" I can understand why this is said. In some cases some people prefer to always know what is going to happen. If they have a fixed faith such as Islam. They no what they have to do to achieve there goal of going to Paradise and therefore can prepare for this. If someone has no fixed faith and doesnââ¬â¢t follow any particular religion they are always unsure of what will happen in their future life and whether there is a future life. And how to respond to this. But I understand that others may prefer to have an undecided Future.
